This small watercolour was created as a card. Whalley arches have been ever present in my life since childhood. Although not the most aesthetic or subtle piece of Victorian engineering, I cant help the fact that they have appeared in many of my images. |
Celtic Cross![]() "Whalley Celtic" Watercolour. This is a watercolour painting of a Norse standing cross in my local church. It fascinated me for many years and I feel its mysteries still remain hidden. It bears silent witness to a time now forgotten. |

This rather experimental and impressionistic watercolour records the fact that the River Calder passes beneath the arches and tries to capture some of the movement involved in that event. |
Detail of acrylic painting "Looking North at Waddington fell". Waddington fell is near Clitheroe and lies directly north of my old house, hence the title. On this day the wind was gusty and the clouds moved quickly creating vast shadows over the fell. The sun highlighted the amazing colours.

Cromwells Bridge "Cromwell's Bridge Stonyhurst " Medium Watercolour. This is a quite well known ancient bridge spanning the River Hodder. As the title suggests it was supposedly crossed by Oliver Cromwell before the Battle of Preston. I wanted to show the bridge up close as most other views are from distance. |
Roman Road, Whalley Old friends, Old Rivals was painted in 2008 for a friend and shows the often comical relationship between sheepdog and sheep. This painting features Bill and is on a Old Roman back lane in Whalley called " Turkey Lane". |

" Sunset Over The Kemple End Pines ". Medium. Acrylic. This large painting was a commissioned piece. It records the removal of pine trees from the rather understated Ribble Valley landmark of Kemple End. |
This painting depicts a farm near to Chipping, Lancashire. I own a modern Lancashire ladder back chair made at Berry’s chair-work’s in the village. The traditional Lancashire ladder back chair has been made in the county for hundreds of years, it is believed Berry’s chair works are no longer in production. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the reused trailer at the farm. It allowed me to capture two aspects of this area in one painting. |
